Activities
Cabo San Lucas offers many activities for your days of fun in the sun! You can relax on the beach all day, or lay polished at Villa La Estancia sipping Margaritas and indulging in chips and salsa (my personal favorite activity)!
Your choices are limitless and the options are endless!
Golf
There are several beautiful golf courses along the coast between San Jose del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas. Los Cabos Tournament Golf Courses have been designed by some of the most prestige’s designers of the game. Palmilla and Cabo Del Sol are two of our favorite courses. The newly opened Puerto Los Cabos Marina is home to champion signature courses designed by Jack Nicklous and greg Norman. Also, make sure you check out the Pacific Coastline for new courses that are also being developed.
Fishing Charters
The world famous waters around Cabo San Lucas provide some of the finest fishing. There are over 650 species of fish, and the fishing is good year round for Blue & Stripped Marlin, Yellow Fin Tuna, Sailfish, Roosterfish, Wahoo, Dorado and many other species. You can arrange your charter at the Marina or Villa La Estancia. If you get lucky and bring in a big catch, you can have the fish prepared for you in a local restaurant, or, have the fish cleaned and vacuum wrapped to take back home with you! Book a fishing excursion, sunset cruise or whale watching afternoon at www.fishincabo.com!
Scuba Diving & Snorkeling
Diving is an unforgettable experience in the gulf of Cortez. There are shipwrecks, caves, reefs and canyons to explore so where you go depends on your expertise. Some of the locals' favorite snorkeling locations include: Lovers Beach (by the famous arch), Shipwreck Beach, Santa Maria (just past Twin Dolphin Hotel), Chileno Bay or Playa Palmilla.
Swim with the Dolphins
If you’ve ever dreamed of swimming with the dolphins, you can turn your dreams into a reality! The adventure of a lifetime awaits you at Cabo Dolphin Center at the Cabos San Lucas Marina where you can swim with the Dolphins! Incredible experience!
Whale Watching
Whale watching is best during the months of January-March. We saw the pictures whale in mid-January (no zoom lens required, you really can get that close to a whale!).
Booze Cruise
You may also want to look into the “Booze Cruise”, Pirate Ship Cruise around the arch, or you may want to just enjoy a casual excursion into the tropical ocean breeze on one of the many boats available to rent.
Other Activities
On land, you can take a sunset horseback ride on the beach, rent a mountain bike or motorcycle, or try your skills on an ATV on the sand dunes.
My personal favorite is relaxing under an umbrella on the beach sipping a margarita watching a Cabo sunset!
If you plan to spend a week with us at Villa La Estancia, you may want to consider renting a car for a day. We have listed some of our favorite day trips.
Afternoon Drive along the Corridor
Take a drive along the corridor, the 20 miles of highway that links San Jose Del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas. The drive takes you along the coastline overlooking pristine beaches, luxury homes, impeccable hotels and world class golf courses. The hotels along the corridor feature wonderful restaurants and exquisite views of the coastline.
San Jose Del Cabo
This charming small town has the look and atmosphere of a typical Mexican Colonial village, yet is very modern with its contemporary stores and art gallery’s. There is a beautiful old church and plaza at the heart of the town, and, everything important is within walking distance of this plaza. Morgan’s, a favorite restaurant, is located close to the Plaza, and I guarantee you will not have a finer dining experience anywhere!
Todas Santos
This charming town is north of Cabo San Lucas. The drive along the Pacific Coastline offers miles of unspoiled beaches and open deserts. Todas Santos is located about an hour north of Cabo. It is a wonderful sleepy little artist town that offers its visitors many local galleries and great restaurants. Toda Santos is also the home to Hotel California.
I have always had better luck and can cover more territory, on my shopping days when I have a rental car and don’t have to rely on Taxis. My favorite shopping destinations:
Artesanos
The best prices anywhere! They have a wonderful selection of decorative crafts from all over Mexico... pottery, furniture, pewter, blown glass, candles, and liquor. This is where you go to buy your souvenirs!
The Glass Factory
You can actually watch the glass blowers at work!
Necri
These stores offer a great selection of quality pewter gifts and housewares. If you are looking for Talavera pottery, this is where you want to visit.
Puerto Paraiso Mall
A brand-new upscale addition to the Cabo shopping experience! The architecture and landscaping offers stunning gardens, bridges and waterfalls throughout the three levels. The mall hosts a multiplex theater, several restaurants (including a Ruth Chris' Steak House) and lots of upscale international stores.
Costco & Wal Mart. No explanation necessary!
It's actually hard to find a bad meal in Cabo! Some of the best restaurants lie off the beaten path, hidden down alley ways (so don't be afraid to explore!). Since the dining experience will be a main part of the memories that you take home from your Cabo San Lucas holiday, we want to share with you some of our favorites.
The Office
This is one of the most famous spots in Cabo and it is just a ten minute walk down the beach from our Villas at La Estancia. Take a RIGHT on the beach when leaving the La Estancia property and head toward town. Traditionally, we start almost everyday off with a smoothie for breakfast (or a Bloody Mary)! The Office is great for any meal. The beach front dining lets you bury your toes in the sand while sipping a cold beer( always served in a bucket of ice) This is a must go to destination….
Edith’s
A wonderful courtyard environment that offers gourmet and Mexican specialties cooked on the outside mesquite grill. The food is always excellent, desserts scrumptious, the margaritas awesome, and the moonlight view over the Medano Beach is beautiful.
La Fonda
This is a wonderful Mexican dining experience! You will have to venture a bit off the tourist track, but every taxi in town knows how to get there! The menu offers authentic culinary served in a Mexican heritage atmosphere.
Pancho’s
This is where you want to dine when you are in the mood for good Mexican food! The menu is not complicated; the prices are good, the margaritas yummy and the tequila selection awesome!
Puerta Vieja
Enjoy a delicious drink at the terrace bar that overlooks the bay offering one of the best views of Lands End and the Bay. The menu of Mexican haute cuisine prepared with the freshest ingredients available. Another must go to destination…
The list is endless....Mona Lisa offers the best view of Lands End and the Arch....La Golondrin of the famous Trailer Park background has an amazing sea food selection....Mi Casa is located in the oldest adobe in Cabo...Peacocks, Casanova and more restaurants all awaiting you!
Maybe the BEST dining experience in Cabo is located right at Villa La Estancia at La Casona where you can arrange to have a private candle light dinner served to you on the beach under tiki tourches and moonlight.
The place to go after dark for nightlife entertainment includes Passion Lounge at Nikki Beach, Cabo Wabo owned by Sammy Hagar, The Giggling Marlin, El Squid, Nowhere Bar and many, many more!
